We have a very limited amount of SEASONAL flu vaccine and we do not expect to receive more shipments this flu season.
You may be able to get vaccinated at a local health department or pharmacy.
Flu Vaccine:
Flu vaccine is recommended for all children 6 months to 24 years. Children 6 months up to 9 years of age getting a flu vaccine for the first time will need two doses of vaccine the first year they are vaccinated, the doses are given a minimum of 4 weeks apart. The flu shot at PMG does not contain thimerosal.
Flu Mist:
Flu mist (intra-nasal flu vaccine) is available instead of the “shot” for children 2 years and older. Children with asthma or a history of asthma should not receive this “live” Flu Mist. Children 2 years up to 9 years of age getting a flu vaccine for the first time will need two doses of vaccine the first year they are vaccinated, the doses are given a minimum of 4 weeks apart. Side effects of both vaccines should be minimal, however, with any attenuated vaccine, side effects may be a bit more pronounced. If one does develop low grade fever, congestion, or body aches, they may begin soon after receiving the vaccine, and may continue for the next few days.
The Flu Mist does not contain thimerosal or other preservatives.
